The programme comprises periodic maintenance and improvement works to some 116.7 km of main and secondary roads in St. Lucia and the strengthening of the institutional arrangement for the administration and management of the Road Sector. Main project components include: Preparation of engineering details - drawings, specifications, quantity and cost estimates for subsequent international competitive bidding; Traffic studies and economic review; Detailed survey; Hydrological study; Environmental Impact Study; Analysis of Social Aspects; Technical Assistance to the Ministry of Communications, Works, Transport and Public Utilities; Training workshops for engineering and supervisory staff; Design and implementation of a Roads Development Programme and 5 Year Maintenance Plan.
